Thanks to everyone who came out Saturday! Pictures coming soon!
If you're interested in volunteering at a local Austin organic farm, here are two that could definitely use your help within the next few weeks/months.
urban roots
Urban Roots is a youth development program that uses sustainable agriculture as a means to transform the lives of young people and increase the access of healthy food in Austin.
volunteer times are Tuesday and Thursday mornings in April and Mayto find out more, check out http://www.youthlaunch.org/programs/urbanroots.php
to volunteer, email lgaymon-jones@youthlaunch.org or you can sign up online at http://www.youthlaunch.org/programs/urvisitus.php
green gate farms
Green Gate Farms, located only 8 miles east of downtown, produces healthy, nutritious food just minutes from the heart of the city. The farm is open to anyone interested in connecting with agriculture and where food comes from. Volunteers are needed particularly during the next several weeks, as now is prime planting/gardening season. No experience is necessary, and you can work with animals or gardening. I volunteer there regularly and would highly recommend going to help out! Email greengatefarms@gmail.com to volunteer, or visit their website http://www.greengatefarms.net/ for more info.
